The French House
September 24, 2025

So, I picked up The French House by Helen Fripp, and I wanted to share a little about my reading experience.
The book actually opens with a quote from Jean-Jacques Rousseau:
"Why should we build our happiness on the opinions of others, when we can find it in our own hearts?"
Right from the start, that line pulled me in.
The main character, Nicole, really stood out to me. She knew what she wanted, and I could actually see parts of myself in her. In a few situations, I even caught myself thinking, “That’s exactly what I would do.” It reminded me how, when people are really motivated to reach a goal, they sometimes push through things in a way that feels almost familiar.
I’ll be honest though—some chapters felt a bit too long for my taste. There were moments where I thought, “Okay, this could move along faster,” which is probably why it took me a while to finish the book.
That said, I still think it’s worth reading—especially if you’re looking for a bit of motivation to finally tackle something you’ve been putting off.
And one thing I truly loved? The friendship between Nicole and Natasha. It felt so genuine and gave such a nice picture of what real, supportive female friendship can look like.
Have you read it? I’d love to hear what you thought about the book too.
