Beautiful traditions
December 25, 2025

If you read the previous post, you already know that since we met, our school life was full of fun. We enjoyed each other’s company a lot and used to laugh all the time (especially during English lessons, as our teacher was unable to keep order and eventually gave up trying). Interestingly, now we both live abroad and speak English every day - and are even learning additional languages. Back then we used to skip sports classes, and now we’re actually happy to exercise. Some things change, while the most important ones stay - like the one this post is about. Keep reading :)
There is one tradition we started during our university years that I like a lot. At some point, we began writing letters and sending them by post. Since we lived in the same city, and actually quite close to each other, some people found it funny. But we really enjoyed it! Later, when we started traveling more, we sent postcards, and now we sometimes write digital letters and send them as PDFs. I think writing letters is a beautiful way to share news and exchange thoughts in an organized and elegant way, and I’m happy that we’ve kept this tradition alive. Of course, we also send messages and funny videos almost daily, and we’ve now also started this blog. Many of the stories we share here come from the happy moments we’ve had together.
When I think of Norbi, what comes to my mind is her amazing quality of always being open to trying new things. It was with Norbi that I tried sushi for the first time, had Starbucks coffee in Prague during our first trip abroad together, became a fan of limoncello spritz in Rome, and tasted some interesting cocktails in Dublin. I really love how we discover new things together and inspire each other to dream and try things we’ve always wanted. Now we have Starbucks in the cities we live in and have traveled quite a lot, but those first experiences - and, most importantly, the ideas of what to try next - are truly valuable.
It’s also important to sometimes remind each other of the two girls sitting at a school desk who once had big dreams - and how far we’ve come since then - while still having fun together and writing letters to each other :)
